imessage not receiving or sending pics from or to Androids

I've tried sending iphone pics to three different people and get the exclamation poiny every time. Also can't receive pics from them. I still get and can send pics to iphones.

Tried all suggestions to fix. MMS is on; SMS is on. Tried Reset. Turned phone off snd and back on after each change. Updated iphone version last night where all apps removed and replaced. removed several apps to open up space and several photos and audiobooks so have 7.75 gb of space; turned bluetooth off then phone; turned bluetooth back on.

Any ideas?

iPhone 11, iOS 17

iMessage (Blue) -

  • iPhone to iPhone: requires internet (Either over WiFi or Cellular Service) as it is sent over internet protocol. Needs Activation on your device.
  • iPhone to Android: Not available

SMS/MMS (Green) -

  • iPhone to Android: does not require any internet it is sent over cellular voice protocol. Needs to be enabled by your Carrier for the SIM used by you.
  • iPhone to iPhone: When iMessage is not activated or the device is not connected to the internet either over cellular or WiFi
  • You need to have an SMS/MMS plan enabled by your carrier for the SIM/eSIM that you use on your device. Apple Inc does not provide SMS/MMS services.

It will turn from Blue to Green if you have enabled "Send as SMS" and whenever your iPhone is not connected to the internet it is sent as SMS (green) to all iPhone users.

This is my second response. I went to Apple store and the tech clarified. Her report:

Issue: ➜ Customer states that MMS is not working with android

Steps to Reproduce: ➜ Visually verified issue in store.

➜ Moved customer SIM to known good device and issue persists even with MMS enabled through settings. Notification pops up stating that MMS is not enabled.

Cosmetic Condition: ➜ Minor scratches and scuffs

Proposed Resolution: ➜ Referred customer to carrier for further troubleshooting.

Resolution: Service Referral

Reason: Carrier

I chatted as well as called the carrier (TotalbyVerizon) and explained the above. They tried a number of things apparently as I kept turning off my phone and resetting the network, but in the end there was nothing they could do. I didn't have the problem when I was on their $30.00 plan. It started after I upgraded to the $40.00 plan. I asked the last (3rd) person I instant chatted with if I should return to the $30.00 plan and she responded that I could try that. I will wait til this cycle has completed that I've paid for. I will either switch plans near Jan 15 to see if that works, or I will live with the problem until next year, as the Apple tech said something about Apple scheduling a change in 2024 that should alleviate the problem. I didn't follow exactly what she said, so don't remember it.

Thanks for your assistance though.

Thank you. I'm not sure I understand. In the Message settings I have SMS set to "on" (white button moved right so green shows on left). And the same is true of MMS messaging.

But perhaps when you say it turns from blue to green, you mean the text boxes? My text boxes to Android phones turn green after they are sent. If I have no images in them, and am not sending to more than one person, they send fine.

My iphone text boxes are blue after they are sent. Pictures are find. I have not tried to send to multiple iphone people so am not sure if the group problem is because I am trying to send to both iPhone and Androids.

I have TotalByVerizon as a carrier and have had trouble finding a phone number for them, but have time to devote to it today.

This no pics to androids problem started happening after I upgraded to the next price up with the carrier, for more space, but not so closely that I'm sure that is relevant. My fingers are crossed that it's an issue they can fix.
