How to automatically connect WiFi that keeps dropping its connection to hotspot from iOS device with same Apple ID ?

After trying troubleshoot suggestions except Reset All Settings option, I need help with automatically reconnecting to my hotspot.

I am having problems with iPhone maintaining a Wi-Fi connection which is frustrating – especially when I have limited data available on your contract and don’t want to switch to cellular (5G) in order to get a better signal.

TROUBLESHOOTED AS BELOW

① I ruled out temperament Wi-Fi is stopping  iPhone from connecting to cellular whenever the Wi-Fi is weak. But anyhow I already turned off Wi-Fi Assist. ② I cannot see how my hotspot signal strength is a problem because I am carrying its iPad in my computer bag and my iPhone is in my pocket; signal strength is strong enough to maintain the connection because at least three lines in the Wi-Fi symbol are filled in.

③ forgetting’ the network details and starting over. (forgetting the network and then setting it up again often fixes problems with connecting to specific networks).

④ Settings > Ask to Join Networks: Notify.

⑤ Auto-Join Hotspot: Automatic

⑥ Settings: Reset.

  1. Select the Reset Network Settings option.
  2. You’ll need to enter your iPhone passcode to confirm the decision, then the device will reboot.

Despite your attempts at various methods, you have yet to explore the crucial step of utilizing the SIM card from your iPhone XR in alternative devices. This is because the functionality of a Hotspot is contingent upon the carrier rather than the specific device in use.

Please see the pic below to make it clearer that Hotspot is enabled by a Carrier on one SIM and not by the other Carrier in the same iPhone (Dual SIM).

Use these steps first

Restart the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot and the other device that needs to connect to Personal Hotspot. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS. On the iPhone or iPad that provides Personal Hotspot, go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.

If Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone or iPad (Wi-Fi

Also, check the following

  1. Network coverage and stability
  2. Data Balance
  3. On your windows (See if WiFi Auto Joins is enabled)
  4. Also, check if you have any stronger WiFi signal around your computer.

Ask the Carrier to change the SIM if nothing works.

Thanks I tend not to replace with genuine Apple battery for following reasons:

① another website saying hotspot will automatically turn off when in low data mode. For troubleshooting purpose, I turned off low data mode and there is much improvement; my disconnect is now improved to 30 minutes.

② I am also trying Family sharing even though it doesn’t seem to make sense when my iPhone has same Apple ID as my hotspot. How to make hotspot “always on” - Apple Community

③ prefer not to go to Apple authorised dealer to change battery primarily due to budget concern and secondarily a half day I experienced with my Mom phone.

The 100% charge is irrelevant – as that "Unknown Part ⚠︎" alert may indicate the battery is nongenuine. See:

Just be aware of Apple's warning: "Using nongenuine batteries might also lead to safety issues." Source:

With an older model such as the iPhone XR, an often overlooked cause of connection problems can be a weak, aging battery. (The battery supplying insufficient power to the antenna.)

Does your iPhone XR still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

I didn't ask about the battery's charging condition. A power bank won't help with maintaining your Wi-Fi connection if the battery's capacity is severely depleted. So again...

Thanks I tend not to replace with genuine Apple battery for following reasons:

① another website suggesting low data mode. I turned off low data mode; my disconnect is now improved to 30 minutes. But this is not ideal because of extraneous data consumption.

② another website suggesting Family sharing; when both devices are same Apple ID, but is identical Apple ID considered Family Sharing for hotspot? Anyhow, I will try turn this suggestion.

③ prefer not to go to Apple authorised dealer to change battery primarily due to budget concern and secondarily a half day I experienced with my Mom phone.

I found following settings reduced disconnect frequency to once per day. It was every 10 minutes.

(1) Low Data Mode Off

(2) Family sharing on (even though sharee is same as sharer; both devices has identical Apple ID)

if time allows, I will find how to change frequency and channel of iPad Mini hotspot because disconnect occurred on mass transit situation; I suspect wireless interference due to neighbouring hotspots in mass transit.
