That's a 27" monitor with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels – which was low for a 27" monitor even before Apple came out with 27" Retina 5K displays, and other manufacturers came out with 27" 4K displays. On top of that, I believe Apple has gotten rid of support for things like sub-pixel aliasing that they once did to try to improve text quality on low-PPI monitors.
These days, 27" 4K monitors are common. They have 4x as many pixels as your HP m27f, in the same amount of physical space.
If you ran one of those in Retina "like 1920x1080" mode (Larger Text), you'd have the same amount of workspace, and the same text/object sizes, as on your HP m27f – but text and photos would be a lot sharper. If you preferred, you could also run a notch towards "More Space", e.g., in "like 2560x1440" mode, to get more stuff on the screen at the cost of somewhat smaller text/object sizes.
