when I save videos in 1280/720, they seem ok on my end but others say they are distorted, and unclear. What am I doing wrong?

on my MacBook Pro in iMovie, to Youtube/Facebook

I cannot export my video in 1080p I am using an iMac that is running Sequoia 15.3.1 and after exporting the video at the 1080p setting and set on the highest resolution my download ends up as 720p, or worse. I had seen somewhere about resetting something (forget what it was at the moment but I did the reset before this latest attempt) and I still got back low quality. This is very frustrating, does anyone know why my movie clip is not exported in 1080p? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Why can't I save edited Quicktime movie? I have a video which runs fine in Mac Photos, and I can open it in Quicktime Player 10.5. If I then trim it a bit and want to save the result, I get a warning "Quicktime Player can't open Movie - the file isn't compatible with Quicktime Player" and nothing gets saved. Same things happen when I try to export at 720p. I don't understand this - I have only used Quicktime player to do the editing, and have not tried to change the file format (.mov). What does this message mean, and more importantly how can I save my edited video? I don't know of any other version of QT Player, and there's nothing in the App store. I'm using an Intel iMac, running MacOS Sonoma 14.5

Just another thought . . . the best way to upload videos to YouTube and FaceBook is to use the Export File function to save the video to somewhere convenient such as your desktop.

Then upload the file manually.

Using the direct YouTube & Facebook setting can result in problems.

The problem is probably theirs If they are OK when you play them.

It is impossible to say what might be the trouble without seeing exactly how you are encoding them and how they are watching them.

Could you post an example?
