Guided Access fix

So it has happened to me with both my iPhone12 and my newer 14 where guided access will not turn off. Yes the prompt to click the side button 3x appears but when clicked, nothing happens. Force restart does not work either. The only thing that has worked so far is to go into icloud from another device and mark my phone as lost. It works but I wonder why we are on ios17 now and this bug still keeps happening. I’m obviously not the only one cause I’ve read dozens of posts asking about the same thing. Does anyone know if there’s a fix in the works?

"When you are stuck in Guided Access mode, you are really stuck as the typical triple tap on the home button to quit out of Guided Access doesn't work. Even a forced exit won't work because the power button and the home button are disabled.

The only way to get out of Guided Access is to press the Home and Power button together for 15 seconds. This should turn off Guided Access by forcibly rebooting your device. Once your device is restarted, you can then go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Guided Access - and turn off Guided Access if needed."

For iPad’s without a physical Home button, you’ll need to follow a different button sequence…

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

As we are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, likely no-one here would know anything about what Apple intends, and no-one here can speak for Apple.

If you wish:

You could send feedback to those who work behind-the-scenes at Apple. They will likely not reply, yet your feedback will reach those who can make changes. If others are also sending feedback on the issue, it may increase the possibility of an update to address that issue.
