Exported Calendar ics file - shows deleted data??

I am exporting a custom birthday file from Calendar app to import into Lulu.com as am creating a photo calendar with birthdays for 2024. Lulu.com shows an error in importing, so I checked the file...To my huge surprise and dismay, looking at the created .ics file in BBEdit shows data from years past which has been deleted. It also shows some names with a middle name, and all my birthday and anniversary events in Calendar just show first name and last name. Perhaps middle names were entered when I first used the app...

I am flummoxed as to how to only export current events. I have been using various versions of the calendar app since it's inception, as am a long time Mac user.

I just need the birthdays and anniversaries which are entered in the calendar as yearly recurring events. As people have died, etc., the entries for future events for that person are deleted. If I search for one of the errant entries on my Mac, nothing shows, but the entry is still in the .ics export...

The following is an excerpt showing two events with two long deceased events. How can I get Calendar to just export current data?

If you go back to January 15th, 2008 or 2009, don't you see the event for Mrs. Andersen? Search is quite problematic at the moment, as many other posts attest.

Also, it's not because you delete a repeating event that the past repetitions are removed from the calendar. Only the current and future repetitions are removed.

Anyway, get this shortcut. https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/ebf8b5b0559448d2a2b8f6e1c1ef73d8

It will copy all events of the next year from the calendar of your choice and make fresh (non-repeating) copies into another calendar that you could name Events 2024 for example. Just set these two calendars names in the shortcut (indicated by the red boxes) in the image below. The calendars must exist before editing the shortcut.

After running the shortcut you can export the new calendar.

Thank you for the explanation. And yes, when I scroll back she is there, before her death... I'd assumed that deleting the repeating event deleted the back ones as well. No wonder the archives of my calendars are so large...

And thank you very much for the shortcut - that looks like just what I need and I will try it out tomorrow.

With most grateful appreciation and thanks,

Brenda
