Buying a new 2021 MacBook Pro M1 Max in 2023 - is it safe?

Hi, I am looking to buy a new MacBook and I am torn between a new 14-inch M3/M3 Pro MacBook and M1 Max (brand new), which is currently on sale on one of the websites. I am leaning towards M1 Max as it is very well spec'ed (64GB RAM, 2TB SSD) for roughly the same money as M3 Pro with 18GB RAM with 512GB SSD. I am just wondering if it is safe to buy a laptop that has been shelved for around 2 years? Will it not affect the battery life and its longevity after all? And I have read some comments that Apple may stop supporting it in a few years time - is that a common thing with Apple? I would like to buy a laptop that will last for a few years.

MacBook, OS X 10.11
