iPhone iPhone15 Pro Max trouble with SSD

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max and it’s not letting me add/transfer files or even make new folder on my SSK1tb SSD. i’m using the USB-C to USB-C cord that came with the iPhone so it’s an official Apple cord, so I do not understand why it’s not allowing me to do so. My SSD does pop up when I go to the Files app, and it shows that it’s empty, but it doesn’t give me the option to transfer files or add a folder.

Connect to a computer or file server

Open the Files App. Tapp the Three Dots on the Top RH side, Tap Connect to Server. Enter a local hostname or a network address, then tap Connect. Tip: After you connect to a computer or file server, it appears in the Recent Servers list on the Connect to Server screen. To connect to a recent server, tap its name.

The local hostname, or local network name, is displayed at the bottom of the Sharing settings window. It identifies your Mac to Bonjour-compatible services. The local hostname is your computer's name with .local added, and any spaces are replaced with hyphens.
