Sounds like you need to get and use a *self-powered hub.

I got the J5 from Walmart and it works on my M3 iMac.

Not really. Think of the variety of hardware one could add. I'm sure apple doesn't have the time or inclination to review and start picking and choosing what will work and what doesn't. Not to mention it would make for a very long list.

Thanks. I bought a hub from Best Buy that partially works. Completely forgot about OWC. Don’t you think Apple should make these recommendations on the site when purchasing?
