Sound randomly stops working and won't come back unless I restart computer

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015),

Whenever I leave the computer unattended for 5-10 mins (approx) (sometimes longer), the sound disappears. Once I reboot the computer it's good to go again. That seems to be the only solution. Is there some setting somewhere that times out the sound? If I leave a playlist (for example) playing while I leave the computer then there's no problem, the sound will continue to work. Can't seem to find a proper solution anywhere. None of the solutions offered in other threads seem to work either. Anyone who's had this specific issue will know exactly what I'm talking about. Hmmmm....

Whenever I have had weird sound issues in macOS, I have tried the following: force-quitting the processes called

coreaudiod

systemsoundserverd

These are two background "daemons". You can find them in Activity Viewer, viewing all processes, and select them and quit them there. They will relaunch automatically. When all else fails, I find that it often clears whatever problem I was having (sounds not playing, etc.).

(Quitting the first one used to be enough. In recent versions of macOS, however, the second appears to be needed sometimes too.)

Let us know how it goes.
