Trouble Installing MacOS Sierra on iMac

I started my iMac using Command+Option+R to connect to the internet and install the OS. When installing to the disk, it loads completely and then I get a message "An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running the application again".

I've gone into the Disk Utility to repair the disk, but it shows no errors.

Awesome! Using your MacBook Pro, you can create a bootable installer for macOS Monterey to use on your iMac to reinstall macOS.

To do this, you need an external hard disk or flash drive that you don't mind erasing. Then, download macOS Monterey from this Apple Support article: How to download and install macOS - Apple Support. You can then follow the steps in this Apple Support article to create the bootable installer: Create a bootable installer - Apple Support.
