How to change iPad display screen timeout limit?
my display screen goes off to quickly. Needs it to stay on longer.

Have you tried:
Settings -> Display & Brightness -> AutoLock.
The duration to which you set it is a personal decision based on your usage and your environment.
(All else being equal, a longer delay period increases your vulnerability to “Unauthorized Access.”)
However as a general rule, don’t set it to “Never”
