Apple Maps - set default to “walking” - doesn’t work

In settings > maps, I selected preferred type of travel = walking. Made no difference, still defaulting to driving. I’ve tried restarting the app. I’m on IOS 16.7.2 Is this fixed in iOS 17?

Maps app continues to run after navigation is finished until battery is dead With the latest iOS update, the maps application has started to completely drain my battery by running after I get to my destination. Unfortunately, Apple Support said that Maps running after navigation has ended and your phone is locked is "expected behavior," and I'll either need to restart my phone or force-quit Maps every time I use navigation from now on. Since this behavior never happened before the latest update, this is obviously a bug, but one that won't get fixed since Apple doesn't accept that it is a bug. I will have to add another option: switch to Google Maps. I would much rather continue with Apple Maps, but completely draining my battery twice a day is just not an option.

map app will not function I trail ride (horseback) and downloaded the Maprika app. It will not function on Iphone 13 Pro. Friend has same issue. Other riders using Maprika on different devices (apple or android) will function. I have deleted app and reinstalled numerous times, checked my settings etc. Any help would be appreciated. TU

Problems with Apple Maps not showing directions any more! My Apple Maps has suddenly stopped showing directions! It doesn’t even use the predictive suggestions any longer. I am using an iPhone 12 with iOS 16.3.1. I have tried deleting & reloading the app, but to no avail! Any ideas?
