Automatic factory reset after iPhone trade?

Hi, I recently bought a new iPhone and traded an old one, the storefront guy was really helpful, he helped me transfer all my data, however, all I did was wait for the transfer, and removed 'find my iPhone' as suggested. He asked me if I cleaned the data/reset the iPhone and I asked back 'Wasn't it automatic after the trade!?!', he suggested 'yes'. Now it's 4 am and I am reading articles online wondering if my phone was automatically wiped or not, if not, did he see my data? I believe the phone was unlocked. He must have deleted my data right? :(

Can someone confirm if the phone automatically factory resets itself after trading and transferring to a newer model or confirm some apple policy suggesting if an employee receives a phone with data on it, are they obligated to erase it (IMMEDIATELY)? :'(

I can't speak to Apple policies or anything.. But I transfer to a new iPhone annually.. as far as I'm aware, an iPhone will never factory reset or erase itself automatically.

I believe after using quick start, there may have been a prompt at some point asking if I wanted to erase the old phone.. but definitely not automatic.

Do you know if you turned off Find My?

If you go into the Find My app, select Devices, is your old phone listed there? If it is, you can erase it from there..

Hi thanks for your quick answer, no, I had to disable FMI to trade the iPhone. About the prompt, you may be right, are you 100% sure there is a prompt suggesting erasing the iPhone post transferring data? I traded for the first time because I felt the deal was good but my memory isn't serving me right about the factory reset moment. I was super engaged with the new model. If there was a prompt I must have clicked on it. But would this prompt be on the old or new model? I did spend about 30 mins during the data transfer stage (and hopefully erasing). I do remember that the iPhone said 'hello' like a new iPhone would and it did have an OG Apple wallpaper. Please tell me I'm good to go sleep, kind man.
