using target dis to restore deleted emails in host

My iMac running high sierra and apple mail crashed and wont boot. I have a new imac running ventura. i can open the old mac with target disc and it appears on the new host. I use an external isp ( ipage), can i transfer the mail software to the new dirve. the first attempts erased the entire mail folder in the host..

You could Import (Mail File menu) from the folder on the old Mac. The Mail folder is located in the user Library.

The path would be something like /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/<username>/Library/Mail/Vx (not sure what x is for High Sierra). The emails will be in an import folder, so you could then go through those and recover what was deleted.
