MacBook Pro 16 resets time and date

I need help from those who understand or have experienced this

Macbook pro 16, you close the lid, the next day you open it, and there the time is about an hour later than when you closed it

time still passes for a while, but then it stops

I haven’t tinkered with the settings, but for some reason the automatic selection of the time zone (by default) doesn’t work, and if you turn it on, it resets the date to August 16.

Region, timezone - are indicated correctly

MacBook Pro (2017 – 2020)

Date and time issues in Sonoma...? You do not say what exact macOS

I can say there is a known bug currently Sonoma 14.1.1

You can set it manually, no harm there. I would do what works; that is why there is an option included in Settings, by turning off "automatically."

Some have had success from the Terminal.app removing the plist, copy & paste:

sudo rm /var/db/timed/com.apple.timed.plist

not everyone is comfortable using the Terminal.app

please note—your psswd will not echo on screen, type it in any way use the enter\return key to proceed.

plist are rebuilt to default, reboot and compare your results
