Safari can't open the page ... because the server dropped out in my iMac

Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart normally and re-test.
That didn't help. Safari will not open any page whether in Bookmarks, Favourites or with a URL typed in to the browser. It is not the first time this has happened. Unfortunately I cannot recall how it resolved back then.
Firefox works well but I prefer Safari as my no one. Please help!
