Sandisk SSD hard drive that uses usb-c would not connect to mac with iPhone 15 usb-c cable.

I searched the web but could not find the answer I was looking for. My mac would recognize it with different cables but not while sing the iPhone one. Does anyone know why this would happen, Did Apple "cheap out" on their new iPhone cables?

I know this. You have a difference in USB C cables for different functions. The cable provided with your iPhone is a charging cable, with the main function of charging your iPhone and it is not meant to carry loads of data. That's why it is not working with that cable
