iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 17
FIXED (for me): Hi Everyone from Italy! i had a costant battery drain in may new iphone 15 pro max from the first day of use. Always had iphones and never experinced something like that.
I tried in this order (after all the classic usual useless advice):
network reset
settings reset
soft reset of the phone
It slightly got better but nothing big.
Theeeen i canceled tiktok-instagram-facebook and installed them again after an hour:
Voillà the phone is now WORKING LIKE IT SHOULD!!! no more incomprehensible battery drain!
(in addiction i also cancelled some small apps and update all, but i don't think those were the problem)
I had an iphone 13 pro max before so i know how it should behave.
MY ADVISE from my experience: DELETE and RE-INSTALL all the app you have in the iphone, from the haviest to the small ones and check the result!
I hope this can help someone <3, i was about to go crazy!
Best regards
I own iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, neither of which is experiencing any battery life issues at all.
How many of you who are suggesting less battery life, Force Restarted your iPhone after you do an iOS update? Likely none of you have and it is something I do after EVERY iOS update and after all these years, I have never experienced battery drain issues from an iOS update. EVER.
Follow the directions here --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
iOS 17.2 is now available.

Both my iPhone 14 Pro Max (after updating to ios 17.1.2) and my Apple Watch Ultra (after updating to ios 10.1.2) are experiencing significant battery draining issues to the tune of 10% per hour while they both are in low power mode. Even after updating the phone to 17.2 (followed by 17.2.1) and updating the watch to 10.2 the issues with both devices still persist. It is clearly a software issue in both devices. By the way, I've force restarted both devices several times without any resolution.
The hard reset seems to have helped. I have been an iPhone user since the beginning, and still I forget how much this can help.
**Update: I restarted, and this morning mine seems to be working properly again.
Whenever you install an iOS update, your iPhone must go through some chores such as re-indexing. These chores will strain the battery for a short time.
What model iPhone do you own and what is its current Battery Health?
I get tired of hearing all the same Attempts to resolve the battery drain issue. Non of them really work. Using Change management process. You know that the issue was not present prior to the change ie. IOS Update. There for a problem was introduced with the change. The solution is to either roll back the software or fix the issue before reintroducing an upgrade. Enough said.
A 2% drop in battery after opening 2 apps is hardly cause for concern. Depending on long it has been since you updated your phone, it can take some time for all the indexing of data to complete.
mine is an iPhone 15 pro max literally with 100% battery life, quite sure is the new IOS 17.2.1 but I’ll try to restart it
Hi, I have same issue since purchase new iphone 15 pro max. I already do every safe battery mode, turn off background, dark mode, etc. but still face same issue. My phone only can survive 20 hours without do anything in setting always display on “off”. Drain 1 percent every 5 mins do video call in whatsapp or open youtube video. I didn’t move only data yet from my old phone, only whatsapp but I download some apps already. I worry to continue use this phone.
Other than the nuclear option of wiping the phone and reinstalling iOS using iTunes on a computer, I don't have any more suggestions. A Xr is getting up there in age at this point, even with a relatively new battery in the phone.
My new iPhone 15 Pro (using it since ~3 weeks) drops 2-3% every 15-20 Minute of use. This happened after the iOS 17.1.2 Update. This is not a „Pro Battery for all day“ like Apple says. It can’t be like every time I check the right top corner I see the percentage dropped again by simple activities like a few minutes YouTube, WhatsApp, E-Mail and so on. Really frustrating! When I get a „Pro“ smartphone, I don’t want to restrict myself to get over a day!
When you go to sleep (don’t use your phone for more than 5-6 hours) it literally drains up to 10% battery life, I don’t know if you’d the same issue.
My guess is that the main issue is a software one.
