Audiobook sites stop playing when iphone goes into sleep or locks screen. Donn't have Audible app. Happens mostly at night

When listening books at night the iPhone 12 Pro Max IOS 17.1.2 stops playing most of the time phone goes into sleep and locks screen. To get it going again I turn off and then on phone and it works again for awhile. I don't have Audible.

Please help. this insanity at night

Hoopla stops audio when IPhone screen locks While using the Hoopla app, my book will stop playing when my screen locks. It also stops playing when I leave the app…it has never done this before.
