Upgrading the 2017 I5 iMac. In answer to an earlier post, Yes you can upgrade both the processor and amount of ram in the 2017 iMac. Someone earlier said an absolute no but this is just not true. You can replace the i5 processor with one of the i7’s and increase the ram to , I think, 32 gig ram with processor upgrade

While you cannot upgrade the processor, if you have a 27-inch iMac, you can upgrade the memory. However, if you have a 21.5-inch 2017 iMac, you cannot upgrade the memory, however, an Apple Authorized Service Provider may be able to.
