iMovie— perplexed over the inability to now share iMovie edited videos!

Nov 30,2023 I can’t figure out why Apple has drastically changed the way we share iMovie edited videos. I can guess at some of the reasons but why prohibit sending the video to a friend or yourself or just saving it in the usual form, not just a file? I know you can upload directly from iMovie to Facebook and some other places but I can no longer save the movie that I’ve created or send it except as a file. Can anyone explain that I am mistaken and all of this is possible? I called Apple and talked with one of their creative persons two weeks ago, and they were not even aware of the changes and could not help me at all!

Like the Apple Support techs with whom you spoke, I am not aware of any "drastic" changes in the way that iMovie shares edited videos. The purpose of iMovie is, and always has been, to enable the user to create a movie and share it as a movie file, which is exactly what you say you can do. In addition to sending it as a file one can also send it as an email.

With the current Sonoma operating system there has been a bug that has prevented the sharing of a project. Apple will need to fix it. Perhaps that is what you are talking about.

EDIT: Are you by any chance talking about iMovie on iPhone as opposed to iMovie on Mac OS?

Hi Rich839 ....

Oh right - yes! I am talking about on the iPhone! I have used iMovie on my Mac computer many times but I use the phone or iPad often too for little videos, fun, quick and easy. So now, iMovie is not allowing me to post an edited video on instagram or even send it to someone. Very weird. I can upload directly to Facebook (so strange they don't provide a link to instagram. ) I just get a file I can save but can't do anything with it! I am current on all my operating systems. Thanks so much for answering in the first place. I have never been on this and I was just so disturbed about iMovie because I enjoy it!
