High CPU usage when doing light browsing effecting battery life

Today i had my computer at 80% charge and after my first 2 classes im at 30% and i have 8 more classes coming up. I see my CPU usage is usally at 50% all the time and im guessing thats the reason why my battery is draining so fast and cant get through the whole day. Below is a screenshot of activity monitor showing the greatest cpu usage and stuff. Let me know what i can do to decrease my CPU usage and extend my battery life. Im on m1 macbook air 16gb and ive had it for 1-2 years with battery health being normal and 84% of max capacity.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.1

Uninstall Avast according to the Avast maker's instructions -- it's not needed. You could try restarting in safe mode and look at the Activity Monitor to see how much it changes. The iStat entries won't be there then. In safe mode check activity monitor to see how much CPU Time opendirectoryd is using -- It's generally at 0% on my machine. Booting into safe mode can sometimes fix problems. Close any open apps when you aren't using them as they can be a drain.
