Cannot connect to Imessage server on iPad

So, my text messages stopped syncing with my iPad. Which I use all of the time. When i go Settings>Messages > it tells me to Sign In but the status bar just spins and spins until i get the message pop up and it says. "unable to contact the iMessage/Facetime server.

If you are experiencing difficulties with Messaging and/or FaceTime, start here:

If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support


If you continue to experience difficulties, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.


Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
