iMovie export quality on iPhone

Hello everyone, i started to use iMovie recently in order to edit my videos i shot on my iPhone in 4K HEVC 24 FPS format.

But, i found out that after i finish the project and export it my camera roll 4 things getting change:

1: Frame rate goes up from 24 to 30.

2: File format changes from HEVC to H.264(AVC).

3: Video Bit Rate drops a lot from 101mb/s down to 25mb/s.

4: Audio sampling rate 48 to 44.1 and lower bit rate in audio too.

(At least resolution stays in 4K)

Anything i need to change in settings?

is it even possible in iPhone to export in high quality (original quality)

Thanks a lot!

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 17

On your iPhone, go to Setings/Photos/Transfer to Mac or PC and check the Keep Originals option. That should preserve your HEVC on export to your Mac. Otherwise it will be knocked down to Mp4 or other most compatible format. However, I believe that iMovie for Mac has no HEVC export option. iMovie generally exports in Mp4/AAC except you get a .mov file when exporting with the Best Quality (pro res) setting.

As for the frame rate iMovie sets the frame rate as that of the frame rate of the first video clip added to a newly created project. It needs to be a new project in which no clip has ever been previously added.
