Has Sonoma changed how photos are downloads and stored ?

I download my photos from my iPhone to the iMac photos folder. To enable me to see them on a Windows PC, I copy the imported photos to a USB stick and upload to Windows. This is a process I have used several years.

Windows now says it doesn't recognise file format of JPEG - the photo tile says something like ._IMG_9999.JPG and won't show or open the photo. Is this a bug or do I have to find work around? Any advice?

The new photo does not show the meta data or GPS details.

It's not a "mini clip" (whatever that might be). It's the resource fork of the Mac file which the Fat format on the flash drive doesn't understand, and shows it in that format with the leading period and dash. The good news is that these can be safely deleted. Using something like

will delete them for you.

Ways to avoid them? Why not download from your phone directly to your PC? More simple all round.
