Some Apple users are saying that the 17 iPhone update is causing phones to share information with each other that are all in close proximity of one another. Has anybody heard anything about this? That’s a scary thought!!

There is NO Security issue at all. Apple released an update which permits two iPhones to share contact data as long as the phones are close to each other, called Name Drop. BUT and this is a BIG BUT, only if a user GRANTS PERMISSION to share their contact data. You have to purposely grant the permission and there is NO WAY the contact information can be shared unless you do grant permission.
What you've read in the press and hear from others is a bunch of hooey, to be honest. There is NO SECURITY RISK here at all.

No. They are referring to the Name Drop feature and it does not share info unless both parties consent. It also requires putting the phones together. People are exaggerating the whole thing and creating fear based on misinformation
