I have a late 2013 iMac, 27” using Catalina 10.15.7 and safari 15.6.1. For quite awhile I have been putting up with the colorful ball of doom. All my updates are current and Norton doesn’t find anything. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Remove Norton. It is the main cause or your slowness issues.
Then post an Etrecheck report so people here can analyze it and provide further options.

Norton would be the very last thing I'd want for protection, as mentioned...
The free Malwarebytes may take care of it...
Nothing.
If you need to check for Malware occasionally, use Malwarebytes and remove it after it has scanned your Mac.
Outside of that, there is no need for a persistent AV scanner.
What would you suggest instead of Norton?
