iTunes sync for work and movement

iTunes seems to sync all

songs set up with work and movement regardless of whether they have changed, which means extremely long syncing times. Is there a way to prevent this?

No, but at least you've found the cause. Remove data from the work field for any track where you don't intended to use this data on your device. In some cases people find that values that were originally held in grouping moved to work following a particular iTunes update, and those tracks repeatedly sync despite not being actively selected to use work and movement.

I suspect this is a bug that Apple don't have any pressure to fix, but you can nag them via Feedback - iTunes - Apple.

As for the lock up on eject I would assume a separate issue. You might try running iTunes as administrator and see if it is any better behaved. Do you have third party AV software? If so I recommend excluding the iTunes library folder from all real time scans.

Thanks for the advice tt2, good to see you are still active on these threads.

I'm pretty sure it's just the tracks with work and movement, which is a shame as it's a decent system and a much better way to play classical music. I assume there are no plans to fix this issue for the diminishing number of old timers who have large music collections and and are still using iTunes?

On a possibly separate note, ejecting my iPhone after syncing usually results in iTunes freezing and having to be restarted through Task Manager, not sure if this is linked to the above?
