why does iTunes get syncing music?
Every time I sync my iPhone iOS 26 with iTunes all my music is resynced to the iPhone SE . This is over 5,000 tracks. It takes too long. I have reset the ID3 tags but it still happens. I have logged out and back in and reset both phone and iTunes. Both have the latest updates. Any thoughts?
Do these tracks have something populated in the "work" or "movement" fields?
To check, go to songs view and add work or movement as a column. If those are populated with data highlight the relevant tracks, choose get info, check the box for use work and movement, and delete any data. This is a long-standing bug in iTunes where songs with data in those boxes re-sync over and over again.
It would strike me as weird that all tracks on your phone would do it, but start there and we can try to help further if the issue persists. Given it started for you on iOS 26 I am thinking it's a different issue.
FWIW I updated to iOS 26 and have not had this behavior. Thank God since I have 64K songs and it takes five hours to add all that music to an empty phone.

If I were you, I'd wait a bit and see if anybody smarter than me replies ;-)
I'd consider letting it sync.
and then kick off another sync but check the sync-options box that says "PC overwrites iPhone on this sync"
(or something like that................)
thank you - I have done this and removed values from those fields, and it has been much more efficient at syncing. ; only syncing this new podcasts track.
There were only about 20 tracks that had any values in either of those 3 field so it was easy to remove those values.
