how to i upgrade to a family plan account we already have? existing 5GB plan full.

Your Apple ID must be invited to the Family Sharing group that holds the iCloud subscription, and then it will automatically use it. Have the Family Organizer follow the steps in the support document linked below to invite you to the Family Group so you can access the shared iCloud Subscription.
