In Internet Recovery, these low negative thousands error messages (between -1000 and -6000) indicate that your provided Wi-Fi Network is inadequate in some fashion, and cannot be used (for this purpose) in its current state.

Common problems include:

Hidden Network-name

required use of a proxy server to get Internet access

required use of a login page to get Internet access

Use of a login server or certificate to get Internet access

Use of PPPoE in the Mac to get Internet access (typically only applies to DSL)

Use of Fixed IP address rather than good old DHCP

Variance of the time by more than five minutes

Failure of Router to provide workable DNS server addresses, or providing 0.0.0.0 [may produce -2002f]

If you have an Ethernet port, you may in some cases be able to move your Mac close to the Router and connect to the Router using Ethernet.

The higher the number, the more obscure the problem.

If your battery was completely depleted, the Date&Time could have reverted to the default, which will not work. There is a terminal command to reset to current Internet Date&Time -- post back for assistance.

Thank you for the photo.

Use an Adapter:

A. Verify the Connection:

First off, see if the headphones are is even seen:

  1. Hold Down: the Option key
  2. Click: the Apple menu
  3. Choose: System Information or System Report
  4. Select: USB from the list on the left
  5. Look For: this hub

B. Use Ethernet Only:

Disable WiFi and then keep Ethernet connected. See if you are fine from there.

C. Which Adapter to Use:

Note that what you have depicted is a Hub --not an adapter -- that supports many media types. So, use a direct adapter Ii.e. USB-A-to-Ethernet or USB-C-to-Ethernet). Using an adapter can take up lots of power and it may not be able to keep up with itself. So, an adapter with external power may do the job.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Use a NEW Adapter:

Error 2005 indicates there is a USB connectivity error. So, try another adapter. This is the adapter sold by Apple: Apple USB Ethernet Adapter - Apple. So, see about getting one.

Troubleshooting a Spinning Globe:

A. Connect Using Ethernet:

If WiFi is giving you such an issue, then consider connecting to your router or wall outlet sign Ethernet. You might need one of these adapter, if no Ethernet port: Belkin USB-C to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter - Apple

B. Power This Off for Now:

If you have no Adapter, then power it off for the day/night - keep it out of the sun, and in an open location. The drive may ne failing, if it's been sitting there for hours. Also, consider placing it atop a Laptop Cooler. When you get the adapter, proceed from there.
