The Apple Watch is not going to be a method to circumvent the parental controls that are set in place. The iPhone and the Apple Watch will be synced to the same Apple ID belonging to your child. All of the restrictions set on the iPhone will apply to the Apple Watch synced to that iPhone.

The above is true even if you purchased a GPS+Cellular Apple Watch or GPS+WiFi Apple Watch.

You are right that one can make a call from a GPS+Wi-Fi Apple Watch even when the iPhone is not nearby by using a Wi-Fi connection. The good thing is that those restrictions that are set on the iPhone will still apply on the Apple Watch.

If you buy the GPS-only Watch, your child will need to always have his iPhone nearby to make phone calls on the watch. If outgoing calls are disabled on the iPhone, the watch will not be able to make calls.

Only the GPS+Cellular Watch can make phone calls without the iPhone nearby.

Thanks, i heard many things about Apple parental control and how easy sometimes it is to avoid it.

I would say that some parental controls are better than none, and any child over the age of 12 can probably get by all of them.

You always have the option of taking away the iPhone and Watch if your child doesn't use them in the way you have approved. Trust me, the humiliation of having to use a flip phone is often enough to make a child reconsider breaking the rules a second time. When I worked for a cellular phone company, I always advised parents to keep an old basic phone that would take the same sized SIM around for just such an occasion.

Yes, good point :) since parental control works good on my childs iPhone I just don’t want to buy a device that will interfere. Now I don’t have a problem that my child is trying to switch off parental control on purpous, but when watch will interfere by itself I am sure it will be my problem to fix this :) i know better ways to spend time than role-playing as home IT departament :)

Unfortunately, I don't have any better suggestions.

I love "role-playing as home IT department".

Best of luck.
