Do I need to purchase an Apple TV remote in order to connect my smart tv to apple subscription?
I am desperately trying to connect Apple TV to my TV. How do I do that?

No you do not. The exact procedure will depend on the model of the TV. Generally you would need to download the Apple TV+ app from your smart TV. After it is downloaded, you would open it and go to Settings to enter your Apple ID. This will all be done using your TV remote.
