Unable to Set Time Zone Manually Even When Restrictions are Off

Basically the title.

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 17.1.2

The set time zone automatically is on and greyed out with the subtext:

“the time zone cannot be manually set due to device restrictions”

I had some rudimentary Content and Privacy Restrictions enabled (notably did not have a Screen Time/Restrictions passcode enabled). Tried disabling them and restarting my iPhone—still cannot set time zone manually. Location Services are on and are enabled for most System Services including Time Zone.

Every other thread I’ve seen here and on Reddit was a matter of disabling the screen time passcode, which was never part of the issue for me. Turning all restrictions (even screen time itself) off has made no difference.

This is a personal device that isn’t (never has been, for what it’s worth) managed by a company, school, or anything besides me.

What am I missing here?

I finally fixed mine. I had never set up screen time in the first place so the fix of turning off screen time first didn’t work. So I had to set up a screen time restriction, then turn it off. Totally assanine. Then I was able to change time zone manually and then turned my location services back on. An update should be made to fix this glitch. Should be able to change time zone manually if you’ve never created a screen time restriction. Took me over an hr to figure all this out:(

Try turing off specific restrictions before turning off the entire thing.
