Teen getting around downtime by changing time zone

I have spent the last 3 hours scouring support boards, watching video clips, etc. to disable my child from changing the time zone and circumventing parental controlled down time. I have tried from both his, mine, ours. Tried ALLLLLL the recommended settings, tried to do them in multiple variation of the order of turning things on and off etc. NOTHING works! We both have iPhone 15 pros. Please help!

Not sure what setting you attempted to change to prevent time zone changes, so here are the steps that should be taken. On the childs device:

  • Go to Settings > General > Date & Time > Toggle on ‘Set Automatically’
  • Then go to Settings > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Locations Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone and toggle it off. You will most likely need to enter the Screen Time Passcode to get there.
  • Tap ‘Back’
  • At the top of the ‘Location Services’ screen, check ‘Don’t Allow Changes.’
  • Continue to tap back until you return to the Settings page.

Now go back to the parent device at Settings > Screen Time > App & Website Activity, and turn it off and back on. You may need to check any DownTime or App Limits you had previously set up. Restart both devices and confirm that they cannot change the setting at Settings > General > Date & Time on their device.
