Lost the iPad in the house for over a year now found. Screen does not respond to touch to enter password, also doesn’t show up on find iPad, help

How can I unlock my iPhone 12 with a cracked screen? I have an old iPhone 12 that I need to access to turn off Find My iPhone so I can erase it. The crack on the screen is on the lower portion of the left, and it does not recognize when I "tap" the screen in that area (which is the keyboard), so I cannot fully unlock my phone. Is there a workaround? If I work with it, I can access some apps, but it is still technically locked. I don't want to replace screen because it cost over $200 and I have a newer model I use daily. Did you already connect it to the original Apple adapter and let it charge? It may take up to 30min, until the iPad starts up again automatically.

If it does not, the battery might be defective and it has to be serviced:
