Japanese letter doesn't display

I am using MacBook Air M2 with macOS Sonoma 14.1.2

I downloaded some files with Japanese characters and it doesn't display these characters.

I tried opening it with Visual Studio and Textedit, but it doesn't work.

But when I type it with a Japanese keyboard by myself, it displays.

What should I do to display the Japanese characters in the downloaded file?

The files are probably in some encoding which apps are not recognizing. Unicode UTF-8 is standard these days. In Text Edit, File > Open, you should see a menu of Plain Text Encodings at the bottom. Try all the Japanese options. Also ask the place where you got these files what the encoding is.
