Macbook / Iphone pairing

I am writing to seek assistance regarding an issue I am facing with connecting my iPhone 14 to my MacBook M2 (running Sonoma 14.1.2) via Bluetooth.

When attempting to pair the devices using my iPhone, I encounter an error message stating, "Pairing unsuccessful, MacBook is not supported." Additionally, when I try to initiate the connection from my MacBook's Bluetooth menu, my iPhone does not appear in the list of nearby devices.

Interestingly, I am able to connect my iPhone as a personal hotspot using Wi-Fi without any issues. This leads me to believe that the problem may be specific to Bluetooth connectivity.

I have already tried basic troubleshooting steps such as toggling Bluetooth on and off, ensuring both devices are within close proximity, and checking for software updates on both the iPhone and MacBook. However, the issue persists.

Could you please provide guidance on resolving this Bluetooth connectivity problem? I appreciate your assistance in helping me establish a successful connection between my iPhone and MacBook via Bluetooth.

Thank you for your time and support.

Bluetooth pairing an iPhone or iPad and a Mac is not supported.

If you are attempting to use Handoff/Continuity or AirDrop, that does involve Bluetooth but the devices are NOT paired; Bluetooth just needs to be on and the devices in range of each other.
