IOS Remove old inactive Primary SMTP

For over 13 years now people have had issues removing or change their smtp settings. Just search right here and you can see for yourself. This is a headache.

I have had my email account for many years and the list of smtp servers are growing every time I have to change smtp server due to new hostname for the smtp service.

I just got a warning popping up that there is something wrong with a ssl certificate and I know why, because it is old and not active anymore. Probably redirected(dns A record) to a new server with a different name. So I open Settings > Mail > Accounts and there it is. I open it up to remove it but it tells me it is primary for a different account. OK! So I open that other account and there it is, marked as primary but it is OFF. Down on the list I see the new working server and it is marked ON. OK! But, how on apple’s earth do I remove that primary not in use?

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 17
