Can Time Machine backup be used on a different iMac?

I have an Aperture project exported onto my MBP which has now developed a graphics card fault, I did a full backup prior to this fault becoming evident. Is it possible to download the project from this TM backup drive onto an iMac which is running the same version of OSX?

MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10

Try to open the Time Machine backup on your other Mac with the "Browse other backups" option.

Hold down the Options key ⌥ while clicking the Time Machine menu and choose Browse Other Backups

then select the Time Machine drive you have used with your other Mac.

In the Star Wars display navigate to the saved version of your Aperture Library and restore it to your Pictures folder.
