Logitech trackball M570 stopped working after Sonoma upgrade

I have been successfully using a Logitech Trackball on my Macbook Pro for several years. Last night, I got an error message that "A system policy is blocking Logitech Control Center from interacting with your device. Please enable Logitech Control Center Daemon on the Input Monitoring section of the Security & Privacy tab of System Preferences ..."

I have done all of this and it still isn't working. I have tried the trackball on a different Mac and it is working fine. I have replaced the battery, removed the dongle with the USB bit, and turned the Mac on and off (several times).

Can anyone help? No point in spending money on a new trackball if this is a Mac and not a Logitech issue.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.1
