Libby audiobooks on Apple watch

I used to be able to control Libby audiobooks on my watch, which was awesome. Ever since the new update to 10.1.1, I have to pull my iPhone out of my pocket to control the book. Previously I could adjust volume, press play, pause or stop on my watch to control the book. Am I missing something or is this just the way it is now? I wish they would leave things alone when they’re working!

I can’t find a Libby app on my Apple Watch. Yet I am able to play, pause, 15 sec FF and REW, and adjust audio level when listening to an audiobook on Libby. I can do so using the Now Playing app. It’s a red and white candy striped triangle on a white field. Both my Apple Watch and iPhone are current with the latest updates.

That’s unfortunate. I just checked my watch again, and it’s still showing the controls. It’s been 3 days now. I feel lucky.

I’ve had other issues with Libby on my iPhone. Playback errors where I’ve had to re-download whole books. Don’t know if it’s Libby or Apple.

I’d probably just make sure everything’s up to date, and try again. Modern tech, so great when it works, so miserable when it doesn’t. Good luck.

As most of you probably realize, it is up to any third party developers to keep their apps up to date with Apple's iOS and to also make decisions as to which Apple platforms they will support. Also, understand Apple cannot make changes to third party apps to force them to work for Apple users. So any solution is up to Libby.

On a side note, I do not use Libby but I do use Audible. I do not use the audible app on my Apple Watch 9. When I want to listen to a book, I open it on my iPhone app ... which then allows me to control Audible on my Watch. Perhaps that will work with Libby?
