Seeking Insights into Resolving Persistent Unauthorized MDM Enrollment
Dear All,
I am reaching out after a prolonged and challenging experience with my Apple devices, which I suspect involves unauthorized Mobile Device Management (MDM) enrollment. Despite exhaustive efforts with Apple Support and meticulous adherence to recommended security measures, the issue persists, leading me to seek insights from Apple Community.
Background:
Over the last two years, my devices have exhibited signs that suggest they are under the control of an MDM solution that I have not authorized. This has included:
- Unexpected system notifications related to MDM enrollment and profiles management including user profiles installation in ManagedClient and Profiles in System Reports (never in system preferences).
- Recurrent 'Managed Apple ID' messages and enrollment errors, even after factory resets and changing Apple IDs.
- System logs indicating registrations for Studentd, Classroom, ManagedClient, dmd, MDM-related notifications and actions without my initiation.
- Specific "DeviceManagement" in services on iOS devices
- The malicious MDM seems to spread to new devices.
- The compromise was installed by an ex-partner who had access to devices and credentials.
Steps Taken:
- Multiple factory resets.
- Changing Apple IDs.
- Detailed engagement with Apple Support, including the highest level of care options available.
Persistent Issues:
- Unauthorized profiles appearing post-reset.
- System logs continue to show MDM activity, such as MDMv1DaemonUnenrollNotification and fakeNotification.didRunThisLogin.
- Notifications indicating 'already exists' for Apple IDs and Managed Apple ID prompts.
Request for Assistance:
I am looking for advice, insights, or shared experiences that could guide me towards a resolution. Specifically, I am interested in:
- Understanding potential steps to completely remove any unauthorized MDM profiles that may be persistently embedded within my devices.
- Exploring any advanced diagnostic tools or commands that could reveal further information about these profiles and their origins.
- Insights into escalating the issue within Apple's support framework to reach a more specialized and responsive team.
I will attach screenshots from the notifications received today to provide a clearer picture of the prompts and errors encountered.
Your expertise and any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated as I navigate this complex situation.
Warm regards,
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.2
