Received phishing text right after becoming someone's recovery contact

I just showed someone how to create a recovery contact on their iphone, and accepted their request to make my phone number their recovery contact. About 20 minutes after talking about iphone security, googling things about icloud security, and becoming the recovery contact, I received the following phishing text:

"Apple Approval Notice

We have noticed that your Apple iCloud id was recently used at \"APPLE STORE - CA\" for $143.95, paid by Apple Pay Pre Authorization. Also some suspicious sign in request and apple pay activation request detected. That looks like suspicious to us. In order to maintain the security and privacy of your account we have placed those request on hold.  If NOT you? talk to an Apple Representative. Failing may lead to auto debit and charge will not be reversed. Call +1 855xxxxx immediately to cancel this charge.

Billing Department :  [text has the actual billing link; this Discussions platform is automatically changing it]

Have a great day!"

It's clearly phishing, but the timing feels suspicious. Is there any reason to be concerned about either my or the other person's device or icloud security? I didn't take any action on the text, so I'm just wondering if this is pure a coincidence, or something of concern.

Some additional info that I imagine is unrelated but also coincidental:

-Receiving scam emails with some personal info where they claim to have remote access to my devices (I haven't actually been worried about this common scam).

-Noticing a few issues on my 2017 MacBook Pro, like random screen flashes (probably one per day), random Siri activations, heavy CPU usage/blaring fans, overall sluggishness, poor battery performance, bluetooth headphones randomly disconnecting. I've also had a few issues with Chrome that I've chalked up to a graphic driver issue, such as artifacts and flickers on the browser. I've assumed the MacBook Pro issues are due to my saving way too much without using an external hard drive lately and it being a somewhat older model, and that the phishing stuff is from data leaks. All of my sharing/remote settings are toggled "off," and I don't see any unknown devices with icloud access.

I haven't actually been concerned about any security or hacking issues, but the timing of today's events felt strange. I realize I probably just sound paranoid, but given all of this, is there anything I should be concerned about?
