Paragraph Borders Trouble in 13.2

In my work, I use Pages to insert text into documents and then place a border around the whole inserted text. In previous versions of Pages, it would be one square around the whole text I selected, no matter the specific formatting of the text itself. Now, each line or line break or something is its own unique box. It just doesn't work the way I need it to. But what's more confusing is that with some text, it works the way I expect and need it too.

It seems to be maybe relating to paragraph indent. But the text I input is often poetry, and so I need the whole poetic text to be in one "box" of borders. Any way I can make this work again?

Here's a representative selection.

I think I've figure that the left indent has to be the same (or set to 0), and it will work the way I need it to work, and that doesn't seem to cause any formatting problems that I can tell. (screen shot below).

I'd still appreciate any insight or advice though, in case I'm missing something else.
