I'm looking to smoothly crop a video with black bezels coming in from the top and bottom while the final shot is played. The keyframes are placed and it works except the bezels move in super choppy.
Is there a way to make them come in smoothly?
I did a quick test by setting two keyframes like yours, and adjusting the top and bottom values, and it came out reasonably smooth.
Maybe your mac has trouble playing that from the timeline.
Is your movie rendered? Try exporting that section of your timeline, and see if the problem occurs also in the exported movie.
I hate all things Google especially YouTube. It's the worst software anywhere. Sorry I can't change the Visibility. It's set to Draft. No idea what that means, and it doesn't match their support documents. Complete crap.
Anyway it looks smooth to me. I'll try it with video to se if the encoding makes it jumpy.

I think this is very relevant. I don't know who thought that ordering by "Best" was a good idea. It makes no sense.
Better than changing thread by thread: click on your profile icon at the top, choose "Preferences" and change it forever.

I tried it on both FCP10.6.10 and 10.7. Project playback and exported mp4 are also cropped smoothly. Don't you feel that the GIF animation(30fps) is cropped at a constant speed without any interruptions?
Q1: What is the FCP version?
Q2: Have you updated the library from the previous version to 10.7?

How about trying deleting the preferences by holding down option+⌘ when starting FCP? The problem may be resolved by creating a new project and copying and pasting the edited contents.

Hi Luis, yeah I double check if it was rendered.
So I exported it. I'd say it's half choppy half smooth, or like you mentioned reasonably smooth.
It looks pretty bad though. Is there a way to make this look smoother?

Gif: no I feel the animated gif is also choppy.
The Letterbox effect completely fixed the issue. After AB-ing it with the crop function I actually saw the cropping is simply going in steps while the Letterbox effect is going smoothly.
Could you copy that clip with the effect into a new project and share an XML of that project using Dropbox or WeTransfer or similar? The link might only appear in notification emails.
