How to adjust spotlight results

I used to be able to open up spotlight with CMD+SpaceBar and type the name of a numbers document and press enter and it'd open. Recently spotlight started putting listings of web searches. Went into settings and unchecked "Websites" and "Siri Suggestions". Now SOME of the numbers documents I search for show up at the top, but one document (begins with the word "expense") keeps showing an app at the top instead of the numbers document. How do I get Siri to change the order of listings? I always want Numbers documents to appear first so I can press enter and have it open.

That's a mis-typed word on my part. I'm not using Siri, I'm using Spotlight. I'd previously been able to just type the word expense, and the spreadsheet document would show up at the top. Now it keeps going to an app.

Ok. Do something different...

>System Settings<Siri&Spotlight>Search Results > uncheck Applications

I listed above ways to narrow your search— I would review and try again

I type "expense" into my spotlight I get no apps

I need app results for other searches. But for this specific example, the top result is Safari:

What doesn't add up is that I have "Websites" turned off in the Spotlight search settings.

did you try as suggested above...(?)

kind:Numbers

kind:Numbers expenses

In your Finder sidebar you also have a "Recents" folder

or drag your folder containing your spreadsheet to the Finder Sidebar

or click and hold the Numbers.app in the Dock

I don't use Siri on the Mac for searches...

there are parameters in Spotlight— Command Spacebar

or the icon in the menubar

some example—

kind:image keyword:austria

kind:pdf name:todo list

kind:pdf “Which way is up”

kind:word "Carpe diem "

kind:pages resumé

kind:"plain text" name:large "text string on line 300,000"
