Hotmail on macbook not working

I have tried to connect to my hotmail account in 2 different MacBook I have.

I add a new email account, enter email & password and comes back with an IMAP error - user name/password incorrect. I can login to hotmail on-line so I know user name and passwords are correct.

Are there special server incoming/outgoing settings I need to manually entre? By default I get IMAP (IN: IMAP-mail.outlook.com; port 993; SSL/TLS enabled. OUT: smtp-mail.outlook.com; port 587; SSL/TLS enabled.)

What sub-models are your MacBook or MacBook Pros? What OS versions are they running? Both details that we need to effectively help you are quickly available from "About this Mac..." under your Apple menu:

We are seeing other mail services like Gmail no longer supporting old versions of Apple Mail.

And remember, the MacBook and MacBook Pro are similar yet different Apple models. This is the MacBook Pro forum so I assume your have the "Pro." If not, please clarify so we do not give you inappropriate solutions

I have a Mid 2015 Mackbook Pro 15", 16 GB RAM running OS Monterey 12.7.1 with Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB graphics, and also a MacBook Pro 13-Inch 2019, 8GB RAM running OS Sonoma 14.1.2 with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 645 1536 MB

I get exactly the same error in both models.
