Caption is greyed out in Final Cut Pro

I've never used Final Cut Pro before I wanted to add captions to my video, but Edit>Captions is greyed out. How do I enable Captions?

Using Final Cut Pro 10.6.6

Sonoma 14.1.1

Thank You

Thank you, Tom. I figured it out. I was not working in the timeline. I got it to work, but now they don't export. 😂 I do not like working on PCs, but Mac makes it hard to love them. 🤣😂😅

Captions:

1. Menu →Change →Edit Role

2. Caption →+Caption role: SRT(add format to caption role) *SRT is recommended by YouTube

3. +Language: Language selection(add language to subrole) →Apply →Warning message: Continue

4. Place the cursor where you want to insert the subtitle →option+C(add subtitle) →Enter text →⌘W(close) →Wclick / control+shift+C(text can be edited if the cursor is on the caption clip)

I think you'll understand it once you try it.😊

What Tom said.

Are you editing in a project? You should.

Since you are unfamiliar with the application, it is worth investing some time to get acquainted.

The following two resources are very good and often recommended around here. They can help in smoothing the learning curve considerably.
